I'm so happy I was finally able to get to go to a Katy Perry concert. I've loved her ever since I first heard I Kissed a Girl, so I can't say I was loving her before then but around that time I also feel in love with One of The Boys after I did some digging around for more of her music. I only recently was "loud" about my love for Katy Perry (like the last few years) so my parents didn't want to spend money on the CDT since they thought I didn't like her that much. Yet once they realized how much I really loved her, they got me the Pittsburgh tickets for my birthday and it was wonderful.
Anyway, let me tell you what I thought about the show from the Reflection Section where the two ends of the catwalk meet in the little triangle up front.
First off, I had the VIP Package so I received Early Entry and the merchandise - though the merchandise didn't come until today. I got to the line at around 3:30PM and there were already maybe twenty or so people already lined up and then another twenty or so lined up behind my friend and I once we were in line. The doors opened at 4:30PM and things moved pretty quickly as there were two lines of VIP check-in: Reflection Section and the Party Pack. Katy Perry's staff was awesome and friendly and even though my mom was the one who bought the tickets, I was still able to use my out-of-state ID to confirm. Three people in front of us did get caught up though because they were gifted their tickets and had to get a photo of the original owner/orderer's ID but then they were let in.
There was a lot of waiting before we were even able to go down into the level where the seats actually were and we had to wait probably a little less than an hour and a half. Around 5:50ish we were led down to the vendor/seat access level where we waited another like ten minutes before being escorted towards the pit.
The walk down there was absolutely amazing and seeing the stage was awe-inspiring, it gave me chills and butterflies. Everyone was really cool and excited, especially walking underneath the stage. The Reflection Section wasn't too filled as it was only the VIPs in there at the moment and my friend and I were able to find a spot behind two awesome people from Ohio. We also met a girl and her sister who lived near us and it was basically all our first time at a Katy Perry concert.
Once more, there was another hour-ish of waiting before Ferras came on and he played about four or five songs. He was really good and even came up near the six of us and held hands for a moment with the guy in our "group." Capitol Cities came on about twenty minutes later and they two were great and their lights blinding. :D They also came down near us and I was able to touch one of their hands so that was epic.
Katy began her entrance at about 9:10PM and the roar of screaming was amazing, people at the venue even started doing the wave as we waited for her! <3 Her entrance was spectacular and I was screaming, the rest of our little "group" of six was screaming, and we all couldn't believe it. I had a clear, perfect view of her but if you're on the shorter side it may be a bit hard to see as my friend had some difficultly but she could still see. Katy even came down near us and held hands with the girl and the guy in front of me and I was able to reach out and touch her arm! <3 It was so amazing and surreal, we couldn't believe it and we were all shaking.
The rest of her sets were amazing, especially the acoustic set. She did end up tripping a bit down the catwalk but she played it off really nicely and made it into a joke, you've got to love her humility. During Unconditionally, I had my friend's drawing + note as well as my letter to hand to her and, mind you, it was actually in one of those clear-front folder things so I was afraid she wasn't going to take it. She seemed a bit sketched out by it and I don't blame her since it was probably the largest letter she's gotten. XD After taking two smaller notes, Katy and I made eye contact and we worked together a bit so she could grab our folder thing and I was so starstruck, I couldn't even handle myself. My friend started to cry out of pure happiness that Katy Perry had her drawing and I even started to cry because I was so proud of my friend and the fact that Katy had grabbed something straight out of my hand!
The rest of the concert was absolutely amazing, especially Walking on Air which I won't spoil because it's just so cool! I was so jealous of the guy whose lap was sat on by Katy Perry when she sang Birthday but, I'm happy for him! Firework was amazing at the end and an awesome end to the spectacle.
In all, the Reflection Section really wasn't that packed as I could jump in place and even spin around. There was only a bit of pushing when Katy came up to the front of the stage and kneeled down. I didn't even really notice it because everyone in the pit was really cool because we all love Katy! You did see some of Katy's backside and at one point the rubber car blocked any view of Katy up front but you could easily turn to look at the screens. Yet I really never turned to look at the screen because Katy's frontside or Katy's backside - it's still Katy! Katy also made some of the best faces ever and was able to get on a personal level with almost everyone in the arena. It was an amazing spectacle and I'm really wishing I could go to another concert and be in the pit!!!
My friend and I really wished we could meet Katy to ask her about our letters and my friend's drawing but we're still so grateful that she took it.
In all truthfulness and honesty, that was the best night of my life.
Here are some of my pictures that I took. I don't have some amazing camera plus I had the other hand up most of the time and was also super excited so they're a bit blurry - you can still see most of it though! :D I'll also check with my friend if I can post her drawing on here. She'll probably say yes because we've made it our new goal/dream to get Katy Perry's feedback and/or meet her to ask her about it!
