Hi! 1st time posting to a forum. I'm 37 and feel 87 from figuring out forums, Instagram, etc. too many places for pics I get stressed!!!!
I have found comfort in this forum though because it is a wealth of info!!!! You all rock the kasbah!
With that I need some advice....
Taking my daughter to her first concert ever.... Had to be Katy.. She is almost 9. I do wish it was more like a week long mom /daughter thing but this works. It cost me about the same :)
I definitely agree with many of you about the VIP/RS vs regular RS... I knew this would be DDs 1st concert so grabbed them but for $300/each?!!I got those for July 12th at Prudential Center.
I also have 2 tickets for section E row 4 for the July 11th show.
Question is which do we go to? My sister going to use what my daughter and I don't. Will my daughter (and I at only 5'4") be wY to vertically challenged in RS?? But would there be better chance for us to high 5 katy and/or dancers (DD already swore never would wash hand ever again :) heck same with me!
But section E row 4 seems close too where DD could see front of Katy during acoustic.
Any advice sooooooooooo appreciated!!!! I am sooooo excited!
Thanks KPF and all KKs!!!!!
 :flowerpower:

my sister and I are the same height and ive seen a million pics from RS including ones that my friends have sent me from when they went and they are shorter than I am, and they saw just fine and were still able to reach their hands up to get noticed. I feel like you have a better chance of interacting with katy from RS. because even during the acoustic set she seems to walk around a bit before she gets her guitar out. In some arenas, the stage might be a little more guarded off for the floor seats depending on the size.

I have rs and for anyone that's been in rs where do you recommend I stand/where does katy spend most time? Also what time do you think I should arrive? :- :firework:

Hey katycats,

I just went to the prudential center, new jersey show last night and figured I'd write a little about my experience to help anyone out who is wondering about anything. This might be a little long, so brace yourselves. Also, if you don't want any spoilers I wouldn't read this either. My boyfriend and I had gotten the VIP reflection section tickets. Our merchandise still hasn't come in, but is supposed to come in this week which I was a little sad about not being able to use some of it at the concert, but oh well. :(

The check in started at 5 and closed at 5:45. We, unfortunately didn't get there until 4:30. When we arrived there were probably about 30 people in line already and by the time the doors opened there was about 20 people behind us. They were very slow checking in, we waited until about 6:20 before they finally started taking us up the stairs to the pit. It was actually a little unorganized, and there were a lot of rude people trying to sneak their way to the front of the line. A couple people got there at 5:45 and they almost didn't let them in, so I would make sure that you are really strict about getting there as early as you can. If I had to do it over, I think 4 would have been enough time to be closer to the front of the line.

We were shown to the stage, and were escorted under the prism to enter. Of course the people in the front of the line dashed to the tip of the prism, and everyone else tried to secure a spot along the side to be closest to the stage. The stage was about level to us at some parts. We secured a spot on the left side of the prism, in about the middle. I thought for sure that the pit was going to be very tightly crowded, but to my surprise even when Katy had started there was still enough room to dance and move freely.

Ferras and Capital Cities played and were both very good. I can't say I'm a huge fan of either, but I still enjoyed their performance. Ferras came on at about 7 and Capital Cities about 7:45. Katy did not come on until about 9:20. There was a man who had taken his daughters to the previous show the night before and said that 9:20 was the time she came on that night too.

When Katy came on I could barely contain my excitement. She played almost all of her hits, and most of the prism songs. She didn't end up playing ghost, double rainbow, spiritual, or choose your battles. I had figured that they wouldn't be sung based on other people's posts. She did almost all of the first half of the show on the main stage. She spent a good amount of time on the tip of the prism, mostly for the acoustic set. As for the sides of the stage, she didn't really come down them too much. She definitely favored the right side more than the side I was on. She took some selfies over there, and the man who came the night before said she went to that side then too. As for the left side, there was maybe about 4 times she walked down/up it, but didn't really stop too many times. She grabbed some letters from the tip of the prism and touched all of their hands. When she was doing the acoustic set, she looked out past the prism and called a young girl on stage to have a pizza party and share a whole box of pizza with her friends. The person chosen for Birthday was also chosen from the main audience.

If I had to do it over again, I think even though I was close enough to touch the side of the stage, I would definitely go to the front of the main stage. Of course if the tip had been open I would've gone there. I would say if you want the best pictures/video and best view to go to the main stage. It is higher up, so you do kind of have to look up, but it was still fairly close and most of her performances were there. If you want the most interaction, the tip is the obvious choice, but make sure you are there as early as possible. If you don't have VIP it would probably be pretty hard to get there. As for the sides, if the rest of the shows are comparable to both new jersey shows, I would say definitely the right side.

Regardless of where you are in the prism, it's such a great feeling to be in there and be so close and surrounded by the stage and dancers. Walking on air was very cool because a big silky sheet came down over the prism. My favorite performances of the night were Roar(because it was the opening, making it the most climactic), I kissed a girl, hot and cold, firework, and by the grace of god. Her vocals were so beautiful during the acoustic set (of course the rest of the songs too). They actually had technical difficulties during Dark Horse, but a cute screen came up to keep us eagerly waiting. The snippets played during her costume changes were so adorable and neat. I really enjoyed the sipping on gin and milk one with the cats.

There's so much to say and I've already made this extremely long, so I'll end it here. But I just wanted to answer some questions I had been wondering about and give some insight and what to expect. One more thing, don't forget to get 3D glasses for firework at the end, you won't want to miss it. Hope you all have fun at the upcoming shows.  :katycat4: :katycat4:

^she touched one girls hand twice at the end of te accoustic stage. She didn't touch everyone's, I wish she did! Hehe she actually didn't come to us much Bc most of the time she did she seemed to be looking over all of out heads to the middle of the pit. She did take ALL the letters which was really sweet. I wish I knew she'd do that. She def favors the right side of the catwalk, she always favored her right through the years though :) I agree main stage seems to be the place to want to go. She was there a lot and when she's there her back won't be turned to you! :) she had a amazing performance for this tour and you can tell they all WORK their asses off. I just wish she'd interact with fans more like she use to. That was the only disappointment I had, which in a way I can kinda understand because people probably pull her now. I can't tell you how many times I was pinned up against the people in front of me when katy came, due to the rude people behind pushing to get to her. In any event, I'd do the main stage if I were to get RS again!

Thank you for the helpful advice! I'm seeing her in Pittsburgh on 7/22 and I can't wait.  When you say she favored the right more are your talking about the right looking out from the stage? Or the right looking at the stage from the audience?

If Katy is on the stage facing the audience it is her left, if your in RS fasing the main stage, it will be your right.  :pinkbow:

I was in RS and loved every minute of Katy's concert. However, I do have one gripe. I wanted to take my nice camera into the show, and checked ahead with the venue before the date. They said I could bring in any camera, so long as the lens focal length wasn't above 75mm. This includes cameras in which the lens can be switched. My lens goes up to 55mm, so I was well within this limit. I was really happy at this news as I wanted some great pictures. I was checked by security at the door and they said the camera was fine to bring in even after inspecting the lens. There were signs around the arena confirming the camera policy, so at this point, I thought I was safe. I was using the camera for about an hour and a half during the opening set with no issues, lots of security around not looking twice. About 20 minutes into Katy's set during the first costume change, a pit usher approached me and another person with a similar camera and said we couldn't use them. None of the other ushers seemed to care, but this one did. I explained to him I had checked the rules and security at the show had told me the camera was fine. He wouldn't have any of it and was being a bit rude about it. I tried to tell him it complied with all the rules they set and all other security personnel agreed. However, he said if he saw me or the other person with our cameras out again, we would be escorted out of the venue. I was a bit disappointed but had enough pictures from the first 20 minutes, anyway. I didn't want to risk getting kicked out over something so small for an expensive ticket. Despite this small hiccup, I did have an awesome time. Here are three of the shots I captured from the RS:
