So...yesterday, I got the album, it downloaded to my iPad when the preorder was released, and - in
'Black Widow' I totally hear 'Dark Horse', the structure etc, I can just recognise the similarity. Has anybody else thought so?
I listened to it once a while ago and I don't remember thinking that. However, easily possible as Katy wrote it for the PRISM era but didn't end up using it (maybe cuz it had a Dark Horse vibe), so she gave the song to Iggy.
I should go listen again. It would also be neat to hear Katy's demo and see what changed, hehehehe!
Oh, to avoid saying things to be misunderstood - I mean neither the tune nor the chords.
Simplified kind of, I thought it's got the idea of 'loud/then not loud but strong beat' alternately, also the same idea of a slightly 'sinister' love theme, and I then I just felt that where it says 'like a black widow' is so distinctly the place of 'there's no going back' in DH... I boomed it twice on a bus from a to b and from b to a in the headphones again today and honestly, I think they really come off the one and same idea.
Not suggesting I want to complain about it, haha, sometimes I just get a bit fascinated by things like that, like for example when I noticed Double Rainbow starts off with the tune of Girl Next Door, but that was just a lot more obvious, lol...
