Yesterday, I came across the Katy Perry special on Epix tv.
I had seen this special advertised a thousand times but payed it no attention.
My very limited knowledge about Katy and her music had me thinking she was a young girl along the lines of a female Justin Bieber. I thought she was a fad that appealed only to a younger kid like generation.
Being a hard core rock and roller myself didn't help.
I just had no interest in Katy Perry.
I'll tell you what does appeal to me... people with a kind heart.People that have struggled and made it. People who chased their dream with unwavering passion and found success.People that never forgot where they came from and brought their friends and family along to glory in the success as well.
I JUST LIKE THIS GIRL.... this person. And... her music is actually very good even though it's not for me. I can still recognize a great artist.
I enjoyed watching her interact with her fans and the genuine time and effort she paid to each of them. I don't think it was for the cameras and I think she has a great heart.
I found her to be a real and down to earth person even with her new found success.
I made comment to my wife last night that "I realize now why there was such a stink about the short skirt or top or whatever it was... It was all the news hounds had to grasp hold of on this girl".
She's just a good girl with class if you ask me.Shes not a Britney Spears,Lindsay Lohan,Paris Hilton or any of the others that like to "Show their stuff" per say. Good luck finding much "dirt" on Katy.
In closing I just want to say again that she has found a new fan in me and I wish her much continued success in her career and life.
Good luck and much love Katy Perry.
Your story sounds very similar to mine (as you can tell I'm a hardcore KISS fan by looking at my sig and avatar and name). I always said for years that the only modern artists I actually liked was Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, but I never really bothered to look into either one. Bought OOTB back in 2010 and loved it, but never came back to after a week. Then late Dec. of 2012, went to hastings to buy the final albums for my KISS collection, and decided to get one more album and for some reason thought of Katy. Bought Teenage Dream, listened to it, loved it, then watched Part Of Me and that was the final sway for me.
I'm starting to recognize that a lot of modern artists do give back to the fans, though I don't think many do it as much as KISS or Katy.
