Katy Perry Lately! ‏@katyperrylately

Katy Perry was the most searched artist on Google during and after the Grammys 2013: http://tmblr.co/Z57GIyd-c_jo
 :firework:

Thanks to the power of all the KatyCats  :kittypurry:  :katycat4:

I think, it was because of the power of her boobs more than anything. Everywhere I looked they were talking about it.  They talked about her dress on the local news, on a local sports talk sation, Philly D talked about her on the his Monday show

You can all hate on Adele now, but even if she wouldn't have won there would be no guarantee that Katy would have. So I think it's unfair towards Adele to say she didn't deserve it just because you are bitter Katy lost. You win some, you lose some.

Spot on, Ingie.

I've been away from the KPF for awhile (on a forced break), but I had to put my 2 cents in when I heard about this dispute whether Adele deserves a Grammy over Katy, since Adele has won so many the previous year (and beating Katy in every category, as was the case this year).

First of all, we (as KatyCats) should be grateful and pleased that Katy was even nominated for an award this year, when she did not release a full-length album of new material. It's unusual for the Recording Academy to honor a song/performance featured on a re-released album.

Secondly, Katy shows respect to her colleagues in the music industry. In "Part Of Me, The Movie", Adele gives props to Katy's impact on the industry. Katy was also one of the first people to praise Adele's Grammy achievement at last year's awards show.

When Kelly Clarkson won her Best Pop Album award, Katy and Kelly hugged each other and Katy offered her congrats before Kelly went up to accept her award. Remember that Katy gave 2 of her songs to Kelly in 2007 which became hits, and Katy benefited from the royalties of those songs enabling her to launch her own career.

Katy is also a strong supporter of MusicCares, the Academy's benevolent arm aimed at helping musicians in need of financial and/or medical assistance. No doubt Katy has seen a few of these cases amongst her fellow musician friends during the early part of her career.

So if Katy respects her fellow artists, shouldn't we as fans respect them as well, and congratulate their achievements when appropriate?

Thirdly, Katy has her whole career ahead of her. She has shown herself to be an extremely talented singer/songwriter/musician who can only grow and mature from here. As fun as the Teenage Dream era was, I feel her best work is yet to come. She is quite capable of putting an album together that can have a similar impact as Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill or Carole King's Tapestry (both Grammy winners for Album of The Year). However, she needs to let her own creative juices flow and not be constrained by the mechanics of "formula based" pop. Let her experiment with rock, blues, indie/alternative, jazz, and more guitar and perhaps piano playing.

I feel when she reaches that level musically, she will get the industry recognition she richly deserves. It takes time and patience.

A couple of other notes: I also must agree with Conalae, Kelly would have won Best Pop Vocal Performance if not for Adele, simply because Kelly's album, Stronger, was just that. It was recognized as Best Pop Album. Kelly had several other nominations that night.

In addition, Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" would have been an eligible song with either the live or studio version, as it was released as a single in November 2011. Recordings made between October 1, 2011 and September 30, 2012 were eligible for nomination. It appears her record company decided to nominate the live version as it was truer to the criteria, Best Pop Vocal Performance.

If there was one thing I might be grateful for as a KatyCat, it was that Carly Rae Jepsen did not win a Grammy this year. Not to take anything away her, but to see her win a Grammy before Katy would be difficult to stomach.  :eyes:

I just wanna say :
why adele ? You think she was really good?  ???

i don't think so.never.
her voice is like a horse.

I find it offensive and a bit low to talk about other artists like that just because Katy did not win. If people said that about Katy then all hell would break loose, so please do not do this.
Exactly, it's kinda stupid that people are trying to say Adele has no talent just because she won, I mean 21 is an amazing album and there's no denying that she's an amazing vocalist & song writer.
The thing most people are angry about is the fact that she won for a live version of an old song and it seems the Grammy people were just trying to milk as many nominations out of that album as possible. I mean, I know Wide Awake is from a re-release but at least it was a new song...

Totally agree. I'm more disappointed by the decision to award it to a live version of a song that already won last year... for some reason it just bothers me - I wouldn't have even known it was released, I mean I have her live dvd (which is amazing) but was it even released as a standalone song? I'm a big fan of Adele's regardless.

In other news... I cannot believe there was a dress code?? Was there one for men as well? Doubtful. Shaming women as usual, nice job CBS.  :eyes:
Exactly. I mean if Adele had been nominated for Skyfall or something I wouldn't have even questioned it really. But yeah, Katy has her whole career to win a Grammy, and the fact that she hasn't yet will make it all the more special for her and us when she does.
I think people need to think back to when Katy won all of those PCAs and all those people on twitter started bashing Katy... Wasn't fun was it? If we did the same to other artists for winning instead of Katy we'd look ridiculous, let's not stoop to their level.  :)

I totally agree with you in every perspective. I was very disappointed when Katy lost and was like, "Why would a two year old song win?" But I decided to not go to Twitter, be the bigger KatyFan and just be happy she got nominated. There's no need to lower ourselves to other peoples levels.

I dont think people are mad at Adele but the Grammy for giving a 2 year old song a win just cause its a live version.  I would rather have seen Katy or Kelly win since the songs are newer. how can you justify a 2 year old song winning just cause its live. they need to change the rules I think. have a separate category for live songs. "best live pop performance or something

If people are mad at the grammy organisation then they should aim at them and not at Adele.
