It's honestly one of her best produced songs... wouldn't say best songs overall but it's really great... especially as she wrote it herself

Love it!!!  :firework: :firework: :firework:

So beautiful, powerful and inspiring.

I was wondering though, is this going to be on her new album or did she write it just for the Olympics?

Official Olympics video here

EDIT: Katy didn't originally write Rise for the Olympics but with what is going on in the world lately she felt now is a good time to finish and release the song for the Olympic games.

I really feel like it brings back to the Katy Hudson album. Like how the song is to me it sounds as if you tried to take a song from Katy Hudson and like spice it up so it would fit on the PRISM album. It's a solid mixture of her old music and last album I think. I do wish there was more/longer like non-chorus versus but I've been listening to it on repeat for over 2 hours and I absolutely love it.

All that's been said is that Rise is NOT a LEAD single for the fourth upcoming studio album. So that can be left to interpretation and debate on whether it's a promo single or not, and whether there is a spot on the track list or not for the song. Keep in mind, it could always be a deluxe edition's bonus track or something. Unless if I missed any other information (which is possible), it has not been confirmed, nor denied that it will be on her new album. Just that it is NOT the LEAD single for.

I agree with @steviep24 this is a very powerful and inspiring song for everyone when things are not going so well in the world. I don't think it would have a leading role on the album because this quote of Katy about Rise:

Quote
"This is a song that's been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface. I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite"

It sounds like Rise was exclusively for the Olympic Games. Anyway maybe the new album is more closer than we are thinking I-CAN'T-WAIT! :xx:

Listening to what Katy said in her video introducing Rise I understood she wanted to make use of the song in its special way right now INSTEAD of having it on the album, I think she almost implied she interrupted working on the album for it.
I find the production very much power sound orientated, I like it for what it is because it fulfils its purpose excellently, but for future productions, concerning an album, I would hope those would focus more on her voice instead.

I love the message it has. It's definitely needed right now. Hopefully this is what the fourth album will sound like. Rise is dark and it's definitely a different sound.

I really enjoyed Rise!  Even though I haven't been posting here much lately, I'm glad that I saw the posts about Rise, or else I never would have known about the song.

How exactly does it remind you of Katy Hudson?  I'm guessing the line about the nails is referring to the nails in Jesus's hand.  Or are you thinking more of the production style?

I just feel like there's a few religious hints through the song. And it just sounds a little similar to me. Like if you listen to Faith Wont Fail and then this they aren't like.. the same but there's a slight similarity I think. idk it just does. I played Rise for my friend I was with when it was released and told her then and played a couple Katy Hudson songs and she agreed

Just out of curiosity, do you have an actual copy of Katy Hudson, or did you just listen to it on YouTube?

A lot of Katy's songs have a few religious hints.  Rise does have several lines that could have either a religious or secular meaning.

I agree! I love when I catch lines that may or may not be religious hints :) In my opinion, Rise reminded me of the second half of Prism in terms of sound, especially the bonus tracks  :flowerpower:
