I like the nostalgia touch, and the way of bringing the 'living in a bubble' message across. It seems to me that Katy is perhaps going to do some really dark humour concerning society all around us?

HERE IT IS EVERYONE!!

'Chained to the Rhythm' Official Music Video!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um7pMggPnug

 :dreamboat: :dreamboat: :dreamboat: :dreamboat:

What does everyone think? Personally I love the whole retro futuristic theme. I love the pastel colour palette and the costumes/makeup are flawless. Visually I think I prefer this to every MV from the Prism era except for maybe Unconditionally (not to pit them against each other or anything) which has me super excited for this album. I also think the CGI/effects and overall direction are a lot 'cleaner' than her previous extravagant/cartoony MVs (Dark Horse, California Gurls, Roar), which makes me wonder what the budget was like for this one...

As for the symbolism/meanings behind everything, I've read posts on other forums calling everything a little heavy-handed, but dude, have they even seen Banky's Dismaland? Now THAT is the least subtle amusement park-themed critique on society I've ever seen. I think the scenes balance tongue in cheek with dark humour really well while still making a point. I read someone compare it to the Black Mirror episode 'Nosedive', which had a similar aesthetic and criticised selfie/like culture. I've also seen a lot of "When is Katy gonna shed that bubblegum image?" which annoys me because I think she's evolved really well as an artist in terms of her image and music videos but without taking herself too seriously. I'd like to think there's always gonna be an element of fun and colour in Katy's music and image. If there wasn't at least a teeny hint of cartoony/cute visuals or bright colours in an era, I'd be kinda disappointed.

What do y'all think?

Words cant even describe how clever this video is, the art, the references and and the ideas behind it are perfect, I think it may be one of Katys best videos in terms of fitting with the song. As usual, I'm very impressed with what Katy has done, her creativity to illustrate songs through clever and eye popping imagery is supreme! Well done Miss Hudson, can't wait to see what other glorious things you have to offer from KP4!

I'm saving it for later tonight: - been singing firework and things for cash today, and done some house clearance work, and now I'm so tired, haha - waiting for the 'happy' painkillers to reach the brain and kick in  :-\ to relax  :faline: and for KATY LIVEON THE CAPITAL RADIO APP! Spaghetti are ready, too... I saw the pictures from the video on Instagram though, and it looks fantastic. Don't even need to watch it before I know it's awesome!! 💙

That video was very dazzling...no different and nothing short of how good her videos of the past have been. These discreet messages many have spotted...I don't know where to start! Genius!

Amazing and cool video! One of Katy's alltime best. And it really does show how blind and oblivious we are to the world around us, Here in America anyway.

Awesome, it's just what I expected,  nothing less! I love Katy's expressions throughout the story, the last shots of her face are the most impressive!
I don't believe that it's true everywhere, the only bubble I can see is the 'unity instead of division' stuff, as long as there is actually a deep and growing division not all hope is lost. And the division is a historical record, for an obvious reason. I may have cancelled my travel plans to the USA, also for obvious reasons, but daily I watch those over there who will hopefully eventually drive the criminal gang out of the White House, if necessary by force.

This is the BEST video she's EVER done. I love the symbolism and the references. The ending gave me chills.

I think this has shot up to being my favourite video she has ever done.  :strawberry:

It grabbed me at first because of the whole look/theme/aesthetic (as someone who dresses like a 50s housewife most of the time ) and then of course the meanings and subtleties in every scene. Definitely one of those videos that you can watch over and over again and pick up something new every time.

I would LOVE a tour setup based off of "Oblivia". Concerts are a bit like that anyways - put your rose coloured glasses on and leave all your troubles behind for a few hours.

I love the idea of an 'Oblivia Tour!' I'd buy even tickets for MORE nights than I would already anyway! A 1950s fairground theme, and so brilliantly confusing because it's got its creepy undertone like the Stepford wives, too  :flowerpower:
