She said she wants to leave pop music aside for next album because she has reached the top of what she could do.
From what I can remember she wants to make either an acoustic album or a dance album. Not particularly a fan of dance music but at least I have the time to get used to this idea. And I'm sure Katy would do something great in any music style so I'm not worried^^
Acoustic album tho >>>><

She never said she was gonna leave pop music aside. I don't see the acoustic record coming for awhile. In her Q&A with Mario Lopez during her premiere, she said she has ideas for the next 5 years.

Sorry I misstated what I meant.
I meant that she she doesn't want to do the same again (because TD and Prism are pretty similar in term of music style) so no of course she doesn't want to leave pop music forever and try rapping or dubsteping (?) until the end of her career  but she definitely wants to try something new that doesn't sounds like anything she did before. And the fact that she talked about a dance album makes me think that it's what she's planning next (or next-next). She knows that everybody (even outside of the fandom) loved Walking On Air so why not ?
I think she should ditch Max Martin and start writing more on her own again. And I personally wouldn't mind a little bit more Greg Wells & Sia Furler colab ;)
Feel free to disagree but I would really like it if the next album has a bit of a different sound to it.

I completly agree. Enough of Max Martin, like yeah thank you for everything but we need some new sound now  :hithere:
I would also love more work with Sia, Greg Wells and all the swedish people who are on Prism and why not collaborate with Tove Lo and people who brings fresh air to pop music as well ? And this is very personal but I'd die for a Diplo prod, could be wild  :dreamboat:

I agree. But if there will be more Swedes I hope it won't get too electronic :P

I don't think Max Martin is bad at all. He's a very good producer and he can do deep stuff or anything Katy wants. What Katy NEEDS to get rid of is Luke. While I love some of his productions and without him literally half of Katy's career would be gone he's still made for top 40 radio and that's what he specifically writes for. If Katy did a full album with Greg Kurstin, Greg Wells, Max Martin, and a few other producers it'd be amazing, but honestly I'd love if she did an album with one producer. Either way I don't really want a lot more collaborations anymore. I want Katy to write with a few people and I want her to produce with a few people but I don't want like 30 people working on this record.

I didn't say Max Martin is bad, just that he's been around since OOTB and now I think that changing producers would be a good idea.
Btw since Dr Luke got in trouble with Ke$ha I really doubt we will see him on Katy's next album.

The solution to satisfy everyone would be Katy as the one and only writer and producer of the album  ;)

Katy loves teamwork though, and the method of other people's input, I'm not so sure if she would want to be the exclusive writer and producer of a pop album. It's hard to do and too much responsibility alo when it's this genre and catering for such a big mass audience.

I now expect a Greatest Hits with few inedits. Probably some acoustic...I remember she told in an interview (MTV Unplugged) that one of her dream was to do an acoustic album to explore music in all its colors.

If I understood the first part, you want her to release a greatest hits album now? Nah, too early. I probably misunderstood that. She's been saying she wants to an acoustic record for years  Who knows when that'll happen.

Most recent time I came across Katy's statement of wanting to make an acoustic album was in an interview taken when she did the Warped Tour, and during all those years it's always sounded the same. I think she will, sometime, but I'd think it impossible just now. From a greatest hits album, wouldn't she be a minimum of 10 years and several albums away still?

Yeah, she would. I've seen artists that released their first albums a few years after Katy did, and they already have a greatest hits album or something similar.

She actually talked about doing an acoustic album in her rolling stone cover interview of August last year.
She stated she'll not always fit in her costumes but will always fit behind her acoustic guitar.
Personally I believe she will do an acoustic album one day but not right now. She's still very much at home in her costumes.

Yeah WAAAY too soon for a Greatest Hits album.
It might sound stupid but for me a GH album sounds like "hey guys my career is over,, I'm "creativityless" and I need money because I spent every $ I earned in clubs and champagne, so please buy this album that contains all songs that you already bought 10 years ago"

Katy loves teamwork though, and the method of other people's input, I'm not so sure if she would want to be the exclusive writer and producer of a pop album. It's hard to do and too much responsibility alo when it's this genre and catering for such a big mass audience.

Not as hard as you would think. Marina and the diamonds just released her album and she wrote her album solely by herself and coproduced everything. However Marina gets more time off and Katy doesn't, and Katy needs to write albums faster. I'm not saying that I don't mind if there's cowriters or anything though, I'm just saying it'd be nice if Katy could keep it under like 15 people working on this album. There's honestly a lot of people I'd like to see her work with but there's also a lot of people I'd like her to cut out of her life. But just because Kesha had problems with Luke doesn't mean Katy won't work with him. They seem to be on good terms even though I would hope Katy wouldn't work with him anymore. Either way I'm ready for a new sound and I'm sure whatever Katy puts out regardless of how many people are on an album is going to sound good. I don't think Katy will write an album solely by herself until her acoustic stuff tbh. She doesn't have time for it, especially in terms of producing. I don't think Katy even writes on her guitar very much anymore.

If Dr. Luke was a major problem, Katy would have dropped him years ago. Nobody knows if Kesha's telling the truth.

Marina and the Diamonds you can't compare to Katy at all. Of course she can write albums by herself. Compared to what's going on for Katy now it's more like a hobby for her at this point.
